UV Pure featured in NY Times Special Report: The Business of Blue

UV Pure’s superior technology is outlined in a recent article “China’s water needs create opportunities”. In addition to the recent stimulus spending that has opened up the Chinese market to green initiatives, China’s water shortage and its still underdeveloped capability in clean water technology have created opportunities for Canadian Clean Tech companies such as UV Pure.

UV Pure’s Hallett included on list of recommended products by Chinese Ministry of Water Resources

During a forum in Beijing organized by the Chinese Ministry of Water Resources Science and Technology Promotion Centre, 58 technologies from 15 countries, including UV Pure were presented and recognized as the latest technological achievements. Organizers noted that the technologies received keen interest from domestic customers as suitable for introduction and application in China’s water industry. This recognition ties in nicely to UV Pure’s recent announcement of a Chinese distribution agreement with Omazo and a recent installation that was profiled in the Fall issue of Canadian Water Treatment. Parents concerned with water purity for daughter with heart transplant chose UV Pure.

Leo Seitz’s 4-year old daughter Kendra is doing very well at home after receiving a heart transplant this summer. As her release from hospital approached, Leo knew he needed to create an environment at their Ohio home that was completely safe and clean. Their well water supply was “a no-no for her forever”, so it was imperative that he had water without any harmful pathogens. After doing extensive research on the internet, and getting advice from his local water dealer, Clearwater, Leo purchased a UV Pure unit, and is “very pleased”. He found useful technical information on our website, and was also sold on the low maintenance features. He is hopeful he “will get many worry-free years from it”.

Almost 20 million Americans fall ill each year from drinking pathogen- contaminated water that UV Pure technology could treat

According to a study published in the scientific journal Reviews of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology and reported in The New York Times, almost 20 million Americans get sick from drinking water contaminated with parasites, bacteria or viruses, all pathogens that can be eliminated by UV water filtration. Further research shows one in ten Americans have been exposed to drinking water that contains dangerous chemicals or fails to meet US federal health benchmarks.

There is clearly a problem in the enforcement of the Clean Water Act, that The Times is uncovering in a series called Toxic Waters. They find violations have been steadily increasing, with over 500,000 violations made in the last five years. The new administrator of the US Environmental Protection Agency Lisa Jackson agreed that “the nation’s water does not meet public health goals” and added “strengthening water protections is among her top priorities.”

The series of well-documented articles outline the current state of water pollution in the US. UV Pure’s products are engineered to reduce e-coli, bacteria, cysts like cryptosporidium and giardia, legionella and most viruses to safe levels. They have been proven in a successful eight-year field history of demanding municipal, industrial and commercial applications.
