Problem = State discharge permit renewal. Solution = UV Pure.

Last month, we profiled DJ Gongol's installation in the US Midwest and wanted to tell the story from the end user's perspective. Faced with an expiring discharge permit, Chris Farley from the village of Waco, NE was required to upgrade the wastewater treatment facility. Before the upgrade, fecal coliform levels were around 40,000 CFU (colony forming units), but the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality required more stringent standards. Three UV Pure Hallett units have been installed, and the fecal coliform readings are now 0 – 10 CFU for about 18 – 22,000 gallons a day required for this community of about 325 people. This is great news for Chris, who was worried about keeping a constant flow of water through the UV units for fear the units would get fouled. Even though the water can sit idle for up to half an hour, he notes, the units are “as clean as the day we started, back this spring". With results like that, he's expecting the permit renewal anytime!

UV Pure design features make "our lives a whole lot easier"

The Village of Cattaragus in New York State recently moved to a UV Pure unit from a conventional UV “light-in-a-pipe”. Their septic treatment system is set up for grey water to undergo ultraviolet treatment to deactivate pathogens in summer months, after it has passed through sand filtration and before it is discharged into a creek. According to Jason Opferbeck, who manages the village's water system, "the UV Pure system has had great results and it's made our lives a whole lot easier. Our previous system was set up in a way it was hard to access to clean the units and change the bulbs, but with UV Pure's self cleaning feature, on top of the fold down front design for easy lamp changes, it's worked really well for us".

UV Pure's Continuous Improvement… Continues

Our product team is pleased to provide an update on their work responding to customer input about UV Pure products. Duane Turner who leads our Product Management area, notes recent improvements to the Upstream system including upgrades to the muffin fan that cools the circuit boards to increase lifetime, as well as programming changes and tweaking the sensor to further refine reading of values to ensure no false alarms that are common in competitive UV systems without UV Pure's patented Crossfire Technology. In addition, aircraft type fasteners that secure the fold down front section of the systems have been replaced with studs and wing nuts will make the units even easier to open. The team is committed to reviewing all units that come back for service, identifying issues and implementing solutions that make UV Pure products the best in the industry.
