Upstream - Outperforming Its Performance Specifications!

A third party laboratory confirmed that the Upstream exceeds its target performance specifications dramatically. Recent validation results of the Upstream 15-75 (15 gals per minute at 75% UVT) tested at 55 mJ/cm2 at 70% UVT, well beyond the specified 40 mJ/cm2 at 75% UVT. This means the Upstream series is significantly more powerful in actual use than advertised and will provide even great margin of error, and wider alarm set points.

UV Pure recognizes the critical impact that UV Transmittance levels have on UV systems' effectiveness. That's why Upstream systems are set at minimum UVT levels based on real-world source water conditions, rather than the Distilled Water transmittance levels specified by many competitive conventional UV systems.

If the water transmittance of UV energy falls below these minimum specified UVT levels, Upstream systems digitally display the actual transmittance in real time, and will trigger the on-board alarm. The reality is that water quality and UVT at any given installation can vary daily and seasonally. With UV Pure Upstream systems testing at even lower UVT levels than specified, they are more robust, so that when UVT levels do fluctuate, the system can handle it and not go into alarm. Upstreams have the power and treatment range to effectively treat real-world applications with a very broad range of pre-treatment water conditions.

Six Upstream Models Handle UVT levels ranging from 75% to as low as 50%

There are six models in the Upstream series covering 10, 15, and 30 gallon per minute flow rates, or higher with multiple trains, at two specified UVT levels: 75% and 50% UVT. These two UVT levels are significantly lower and more realistic than the 90-95% levels often specified by conventional technologies.

The two 50% UVT models are designed for use in surface water, cistern water, or groundwater under the influence of surface water applications. The 10-50 (10 gpm, 50% UVT) and the 15-50 (15 gpm, 50% UVT) handle waters sources with UVTs as low as 50%. These days, many Upstream dealers and installers are opting to use the 50% UVT models in all applications (ground and surface waters) in order to reduce the likeliness of water quality alarms due to fluctuating UVT levels when heavy rain or other water quality issues arise.
